The 2026 IndyCar season gets underway in St Petersburg, Florida this weekend, with British driver Louis Foster preparing for his second season in the series.
Continuing with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL), the 22-year-old claimed an impressive pole position in his debut season.
After a mixed opening campaign, Foster finished 23rd in the standings.At the end of the year, he signed a multi-year deal to remain with the team.
For this season, he will be partnered by veteran Graham Rahal and debutant Mick Schumacher, who makes his first appearance in the American-based series.
Foster is the only British driver competing in the IndyCar Series, as the championship’s popularity continues to grow.
Speaking to BMM ahead of the weekend, he said:
“There’s a lot to build on from last year, a lot to learn from. I’m looking forward to getting back into things with my crew and having a year under my belt is a massive thing. It really helps with confidence and knowing each weekend what you’re walking into. There’s no first times anymore really.
“It’s been a long off season and being back in the race car is where I want to be. Targets for this year are a little bit up and down, we’re not really sure where we want to be aiming, but obviously we want to be going forward.
“We want to be trying to fight for podiums, fighting for more poles. It’ll be an interesting year. We’ve got good pace. We just need to gel everything together and it should work out fine.”
