The British Touring Car driver announcements are coming thick and fast as we head into March. Speedworks Corolla Racing have now announced that Josh Cook and Max Buxton will be piloting their two Toyota Corollas this season.
Josh Cook is an exuberant character, born in Bath and has plenty of pedigree in the BTCC. Cook has 21 career BTCC victories to his name. His most recent coming at the final race of the 2025 season. Most notably, Cook is a two time Independent BTCC drivers champion and will bring a wealth of experience to the Toyota garage.
Max Buxton will be making his full season debut with Toyota in 2026 after completing the last five rounds with the team last year, stepping in for Ronan Pearson. The 20 year old has had fairly limited experience in racing cars. He graduated mid season from the Fiesta ST150 challenge in 2025. Despite the huge change in machinery, Buxton managed to score eight points last year. His best finish came in the form of a 12th place finish at Croft.
The news of Buxton’s signing may not come as a surprise to some fans. Buxton was spotted testing his Corolla at Snetterton just a few days ago. He was joined on track by Aron Taylor-Smith who is driving with the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport squad this season. Taylor-Smith and Gordon Shedden will be sharing a garage with Cook and Buxton in 2026.
