RSR drivers Marcus Littlewood and Paul Denning made it a British one-two in the drivers’ standings after the opening round of the inaugural Radical Cup Europe Championship.

Their third driver, John MacLeod, also sits in a strong sixth position overall and second in the Fangio class behind his teammate Denning.

It was a disastrous start to the weekend for the reigning Radical Cup UK champion. Despite qualifying on pole, Littlewood was disqualified due to a ride height infringement and was forced to start the opening two races from the back.

However, he made up for it straight away. A sensational opening lap saw him climb from 12th to third. By lap four, he had taken the lead, where he went on to dominate and win the first race of the new Radical Cup Europe Championship, showing exactly why he was crowned British champion last season.

He also achieved the fastest lap, earning an extra point, while his teammate Denning joined him on the podium.

In race two, it was Denning who claimed victory, with Littlewood making it an RSR one-two after fighting back from the rear of the grid and overcoming a 20-second success penalty in the pit stops.

After the opening round of the season, Littlewood leads the way on 77 points, with Denning close behind on 70. Fellow RSR driver MacLeod leaves Mugello with 40 points.

Other Brits in the field include Lowen Stephens, who sits 11th on 22 points after round one, Andy Lowe in 16th on four points, and Ross Board in 17th, yet to score.

Round two of the Radical Cup Europe Championship will take place at Spa-Francorchamps on April 16.
