The F1 circus rolls into a European double header off the back of the Monaco Grand Prix as the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosts the seventh round of the 2026 season.
It was a mixed bag of fortunes for the British drivers around the streets of Monaco, some will be hoping to build on their performances whilst others will be hoping for a bit Catalan luck.
Here is a rundown of what to expect this weekend from the five British drivers.
Arvid Linblad
The tight walls of the Monaco streets was a happy hunting ground for Linblad who despite his lack of experience remained level headed in a race of chaos and attrition to secure a P6 finish.
The VCARB package looks decently competitive and Monaco proved the right scenario can present Linblad and the team strong points opportunities.
The rookie will be hoping for another clean weekend, and if he achieves that, a points finish could well fall his way should he have a competitive car.
Lewis Hamilton
Hamilton ran back the years in Monaco securing his second P2 finish in two races. Although he would’ve been hoping to not only put up a better challenge for the win but potentially gran his first Ferrari win, the seven time champion is steadily building some fine form.
The Ferrari package overall looked stronger suited around Monaco so the true pace around a traditional circuit could well be different from last weekend.
Should his package be front-leading in terms of competitiveness, then Hamilton could well be on for at least another podium and maybe a first Ferrari win.
Lando Norris
Monaco was a weekend to forget for Norris and McLaren, another weekend of no points for Norris all but leaves him out of the championship fight unless a major change in the pecking order were to happen.
The McLaren package feels confusing, a relative lack of pace and reliability issues leaves them astray of a front of the pack fight.
Norris needs a good weekend in Barcelona, there is no other way to break his run of pointless weekends than by having a car to reach the chequered flag and be competitive, something he’s yet to be given.
George Russell
If Norris had a bad weekend, Russell had a dreadful one. A weekend he simply had to score big points and try to stop Antonelli’s unstoppable run, instead another pointless weekend and now fallen from 2nd in the standings.
The Mercedes still looks the complete package despite rumours around their power unit performance, it just feels Russell can’t unlock the true pace of his car.
Russell has to at least be on the podium this weekend at the very least. A win will boost his chances of a title fight and that might just kickstart a run of strong results.
Oliver Bearman
A bit of a nothing weekend for Bearman in Monaco, a Q1 exit and a retirement with brake issues left the Haas driver with a weekend to put behind him.
Overall the Haas car looks a decent midfield package, certainly one capable of point scoring finishes.
Bearman will be looking for a strong weekend, a points finish will likely be very achievable should his car deliver and Bearman find his rhythm.
