The EnduroKA 24 Hour race at Trac-Mon Anglesey Circuit took place last weekend, with MilnAir Racing claiming a second consecutive victory this season and continuing their winning run at the North Wales circuit.
After qualifying on pole position in Friday night’s session, MilnAir Racing led the field into the first hairpin, with Kaston Martin and KaHoona’s Race Team close behind.
Just over 15 minutes into the race, the #30 Scuderia Bowron entry suffered an issue and stopped on track. Race control deployed an early safety car to allow marshals to recover the stricken KA.
After a short stint on track, the safety car returned to the pits and racing resumed, with LDR Performance Tuning and Team Shine battling fiercely.
Just before the one-hour mark, Kaston Martin took the lead after moving ahead of MilnAir. They wouldn’t hold it for long, though, as MilnAir fought back and reclaimed the position just a few laps later.
Kaston Martin weren’t finished there, remaining firmly on the tail of the yellow-and-purple-liveried KA before retaking the lead once more in an enthralling battle at the front during the opening stages of the race.
As the race reached the two-hour mark, Kaston Martin made their first pit stop and handed the lead back to MilnAir Racing.
Several cars followed the Aston Martin-liveried KA into the pits and, once the first round of stops had finished, MilnAir led the field once again, with KaHoona’s Race Team running second. However, Kaston Martin reclaimed the position just a few laps later.
Team Shine became one of the first teams to use their spare car after a suspected radiator issue forced them into the pits just three and a half hours into the race.
MilnAir maintained the lead throughout the second round of pit stops as daylight began to fade. Kaston Martin briefly moved back ahead after the stops, but MilnAir soon reeled them in and retook the lead.
As darkness fell, race control deployed the safety car following a collision between the Kaston Martin and LDR Performance Tuning cars. The incident heavily impacted both teams and ended Kaston Martin’s hopes of challenging for victory.
Sunrise revealed a commanding four-lap advantage for MilnAir, with Autotech Motorsport and KaHoona’s following behind.
Project 29:7 endured a difficult evening after an issue dropped them to the back of the field.
A few late blunders from Kachow, AFK, and Skarsky and Clutch had little effect on their overall races, with minor off-track excursions and spins highlighting the challenge of endurance racing.
Autotech switched the #65 entry to its spare car late in the race as a precaution to ensure it reached the finish. After passing the 600-lap mark, Project 29:7 also made a late pit stop to make sure they saw the chequered flag.
As the clock hit zero, MilnAir crossed the line to secure back-to-back victories in the Anglesey 24 Hour race and continue their winning run in the EnduroKA championship. KaHoona’s finished second, while Burton Power Racing completed the podium.
The next round of the EnduroKA season takes place at Donington Park on 30 August, where the Ford KAs will tackle five hours of endurance racing around the Leicestershire circuit.
