One of the biggest weekends of racing in the Castle Combe season is approaching with the Historic Sports Car Championship visiting the circuit for a ‘Summer Historic Festival’ as part of its 60th birthday celebrations.
A combination of the HSCC championships and Castle Combe’s own series will be competing throughout the weekend. If you are a big motorsport fan and love your classics, Castle Combe is the place to be on Saturday and Sunday. Let’s run through the 12 championships that will be taking to the track in what promises to be an epic weekend of racing.
HSCC Historic Formula 3
A class for Formula 3 cars that competed between 1964 and 1970. They may only run one litre engines, but the Historic Formula 3 cars will definitely fly around the 1.85 miles of Castle Combe Circuit.
HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600
Labled as ‘one of the most popular of the HSCC’s single seater categories’, the Historic Formula Ford Championship promises a packed grid and incredible action throughout. Expect a vast range of stunning Formula Ford machinery all built and raced before 1972. With 13 competitors entered there promises to be some great racing throughout the field.
HSCC Classic Formula Ford 1600
A sister championship to the Historic series, the Classic Formula Ford championship is for cars built and raced pre 1982. The twin championships impressively cover the first 25 years of Formula Ford Racing. Expect to see some cars with plenty of prestige taking part in both the Classic and Historic races. A big grid of 21 drivers are scheduled to take part in the Classic Formula Ford 1600 category.
HSCC Historic Formula Ford 2000
A series for Formula Ford 2000 cars built and raced before 1980. Based on the extremely succesful FF2000 categories from the 1970s. Inredibly popular for drivers as it is an affordable way for drivers to go racing in a car with slicks and wings. Expect some scorching times from these incredible machines. Ninteen drivers are on the entry list for this one!
HSCC Classic Formula 3
The Classic Formula 3 Championship is for genuine Formula 3 racers which were built between 1971 and 1984. These single seaters coupled with slick tyres and in period 2 litre or 1600cc engines make for some imaculate cars. The Classic Formula 3 championship has a whole host of classes including invitation for Formula Super Vee cars and Formula Ford 2000’s. With 21 drivers competing in this category, there should be plenty of close battle out on track.
HSCC Griffith Haig Trophy
If you are a classic sports car racing fan then the Griffith Haig trophy should be right up your alley. A series for amateur owner drivers with sports racing cars built between 1947 and 1961. There is sure to be some definite head turners in this field! A grand total of 27 cars entered for this one should make for incredible viewing!
HSCC Guards Trophy
The HSCC Guards Trophy brings together Sports cars and GT cars from the late 40s to early 70s in a whole host of classes. With six performance based classes each for sports cars and GT cars, there truly is something for everyone. The Guards Trophy also uses a mini-endurance race format. A 50 minute race with a mandatory pitstop enforced and driver changes permitted should produce some frantic action in Castle Combe’s tight pitlane.
HSCC 105 Cup and Historic Saloons
The 105 Cup is a unique racing series for Alfa Romeo Type 105’s exclusively. Eligable cars are built between 1963 and 1977 and will be categorised into 3 classes. The 105 Cup is one of the HSCC’s newest categories for 2026 and will be combining with the Historic Saloon championship for this weekend. Another huge field for this one!

As well as all of those HSCC series, Castle Combe’s four home championships will be completing rouns seven and eight of their seasons.
CCRC Avon Tuning GT Championship
The Castle Combe Racing Club Avon Tuning GT Championship has given us plenty of mixed up grids so far this season. All GT action will be on Saturday with racing at 14:30 and 16:35. Dave Scaramanga and his Ferrari 488 have won every round of the championship so far this season, making him definitely one to watch. But, expect Dylan Popovic, Keith Butcher and Sacha Kakad to be hot on his heels all day. View the full entry list for the GT’s here
CCRC FF1600 Championship
Castle Combe Racing Club Formula Ford 1600 Championship action will also be completed for the weekend by Saturday evening. Luke Cooper is the runaway leader at the halfway point in the season. He leads both the Class A standings and overall standings by 26 points. Cooper will be keen to add more wins to his tally as he chases Caslte Combe Formula Ford 1600 history.
Nathan Ward sits second overall in the standings and leads Class B in his rapid Swift SC92.
Class C leader Bob Higgins will be hoping to extend his advantage in rounds 7 & 8

CCRC NANKANG Hot Hatch Championship
The CCRC NANKANG Hot Hatch Championship will open procedings on Sunday morning with it’s 25 car grid taking to the track for qualifying. Hyland Motorsport will be hoping that Corey Webber can extend his Class A advantage with his immaculate Honda Civic. Class B leader Lee Waterman will be hoping to fend off a potential challenge from Ben Pemberton and stay on top in his class. Josh Carter currently leads Class C but is only four points clear of James Keepin. Sam Williams holds the lead of Class D currently but is just two points clear of Adam Wilks.

CCRC South Cerney Engineering Saloon Car Championship
The Saloon Car Championship has had a regulation shake up in the past few weeks but Bill Brockbank will be hoping to extend his lead at the top of the standings. With plenty of other Class A cars in the field, Brockbank should have some tough competition on Sunday.

The Castle Combe Summer Historic promises to be an incredible weekend of racing. Plenty of brilliant cars will be on display in the paddock which is completely open to spectators.
