MilnAir Racing driver George Wright praised his “fantastic team” and the support from Moores Motors after claiming victory in the EnduroKA Anglesey 24 Hour. He was one of four winners, taking victory alongside teammates, Jack Wright, Scott Parkin and Dylan Brychta.
After qualifying on pole position in Friday’s evening qualifying session, the team led for the majority of the race and secured back-to-back victories in the North Wales endurance event.
Speaking to BMM after the race, Wright said: “It was slightly warm and it was 24 hours, so it’s going to get a little bit warm, but we had a fantastic team, fantastic support from Moores Motors and we all had similar lap times, which is important because a lot of the teams have a blistering driver and then some others. We just had to keep it on the black stuff and keep it real, and we did it in the end. I think we were getting hunted down by KaHoona’s, but I think we had too much of a lead, to be honest with you.”
The #46 team were battling Kaston Martin at the start of the race before an incident late in the evening ended the Aston Martin-liveried KA’s chances of fighting for the win.
By the morning, MilnAir led by four laps and, despite a late charge from KaHoona’s, took the chequered flag with a two-lap advantage.
Over the 24 hour race period, the team completed a staggering 890 laps with an average speed of 57.59 mph.
Speaking about their strategy, Wright said: “We had a different strategy this time. I won’t tell you what it is because we might use it next time and we don’t want everybody else to know, but it worked a treat. We’ll be using it next time but, yeah, it’s just strategy and tactics and practice. And reliability, that’s the number one thing.”
MilnAir and the EnduroKA championship return on 30 August for the five-hour showdown at Donington Park.
