Lewis Hamilton has been named British Motorsport Media readers’ favourite British driver ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion received a dominant 75% of the vote in a poll published earlier this week, comfortably finishing ahead of his four fellow Britons.

Hamilton heads into the Silverstone weekend aiming to make even more history. The Ferrari driver is chasing a record-extending 10th British Grand Prix victory at the circuit where he has produced some of the most memorable performances of his Formula 1 career.

His first win came in 2008 with a memorable drive in difficult and wet conditions. He won by more than 68 seconds in one of the most dominant performances of his Formula 1 career. His most recent triumph came in his final season with Mercedes, when he claimed an emotional ninth British Grand Prix victory in 2024.

Last year’s British Grand Prix winner and reigning Formula 1 world champion, Lando Norris, finished joint second in the BMM readers’ poll alongside Mercedes driver George Russell, who arrives at Silverstone full of confidence after winning last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

Oliver Bearman and Arvid Lindblad each received 4% of the vote, highlighting the growing popularity of Britain’s rising stars. Bearman will make his second British Grand Prix appearance this weekend, while Lindblad is set for his Silverstone debut.
