The BTCC’s Donington Park GP weekend is complete. With three more races in the books and plenty of new storylines unfolding, lets discuss the action as the 2026 season nears its curtain call.
Morgan continues great form with CPRL amidst further team drama
Undoubtedly, the talk of the entire BTCC comunity coming into Donington Park was the situation between BTCC legend Jason Plato and the team that he created coming into the 2026 season. Coming into the weekend, a lot of fans were left with very little information about the situation and the future of the team. Unsuprisingly, ITV seemed to brush the situation under the rug and were probably told to not discuss it. Unfortunately, it seems we could be hearing about this situation for quite some time yet.
However, the team turned up to Donington Park to field their two Mercedes A35’s in a new black carbon look. After an incredibly succesful Knockhill weekend, the team were looking to keep their momentum at Donington Park. The CPRL pair were quick from the off, as Adam Morgan stormed to pole position for the race to pole with his teammate Dan Rowbottom in third place. Morgan converted his qualifying pole to a victory in the race to pole and led a lights to flag charge in race one on Sunday. Morgan would also claim a brillaint win in race three with a 2.8 second gap back to the rest of the field. These results have now propelled Adam Morgan up to a comfortable fourth in the drivers standings.
NAPA Racing Fords impress at Donington
As they have done in many rounds this season, the NAPA Racing Ford Focus Saloon’s impressed once again. Despite Ash Sutton going winless in a weekend for the first time this season, he still claimed two second place finishes and claimed valuable points over Tom Ingram. Sutton is now looking more and more likely to be crowned drivers champion for a fifth time as his gap at the top extends to 98 points. Dan Cammish also had a strong weekend in his Valvoline liveried Focus. He was up one place in race one from fifth to fourth and then charge to victory in race two with Sutton in tow. Cammish scored plenty of valuable points as he attempts to finish second in the drivers standings.
The championship standings with three rounds remaining
Ash Sutton still leads the way at the top of the drivers standings with a 98 point gap back to Tom Ingram. Dan Cammish is now only five points behind Ingram in the battle for second place. Keep an eye on that battle as Cammish will be keen to make it a NAPA Racing 1-2 come the end of the season. Adam Morgan’s four podiums in six races puts him into fourth place in the standings. Ricky Collard remains in fifth place after a difficult day for the whole Team Vertu camp.
Independent Drivers Standings:
Mikey Doble now has some daylight between him and second place man in the Independents Daryl DeLeon. Doble currently sits on 294 points as opposed to DeLeon’s 264. The standings get incredibly close behind DeLeon. Gordon Shedden now sits third in the championship race, just one point behind DeLeon. Charles Rainford is also in the mix and is just a handful of points behind on 260.
Jack Sears Trophy
Dexter Patterson is getting ever closer to a first BTCC title in the form of the Jack Sears Trophy. The Scottish driver took three wins in the class at Donington Park GP, increasing his points tally to 366. James Dorlin still sits in second place in the standings but will not be competing in anymore races this season. Lewis Selby is the closest active driver in third place on 255 points. He is locked into a battle for second place in the standings against Nicholas Hamilton and Sam Osbourne. Hamilton sits just 25 points behind Selby and his NAPA Racing teammate Osbourne is just 34 points away from Selby.
Next up: Croft
