The British Formula One drivers arrive in Madrid following a mixed bag of results at Monza last time out.
George Russell
Fresh off of opening his new grandstand at Silverstone at Farm Curve corner for 2027 and beyond, George Russell will be hoping to decrease the championship lead his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli has over him at the moment.
Russell has enjoyed the taste of champagne in three of the last five races and will be looking to get on the top step of the podium once again this time out. The number 63’s last race win came at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, which now sits him 66 points behind Antonelli.
In his pre-race weekend press conference, Russell said, “it seems a wild track to be honest, I would probably put it in the top two of the most risky circuits of the whole season”

Lewis Hamilton
After a disappointing home race for Ferrari at Monza, Lewis Hamilton will be looking to clear his memory quickly of the events of lap one after teammate Charles Leclerc ran him out of road with the seven-time world champion finishing sixth.
Hamilton lost second place in the championship at Monza too, and called for Ferrari to have some order with the way they organise their drivers in races going forward. The 41 year old has tasted champagne five times this season, with a top six finish in every race keeping an impressive record.
Lando Norris
Lando Norris climbed to fourth in the World Championship after Monza following Charles Leclerc’s crash, he finished fourth in the race after a last lap overtake on his teammate Oscar Piastri.
The world champion has enjoyed the last few races with wins in two of the last three in Hungary and Austria to reignite his defense of the world championship.
Prior to the weekend, Norris said “you can’t prepare how you normally would prepare with this new circuit, you just have to try and get some more time on the simulator to really understand the track.”
Arvid Lindblad
Arvid Lindblad has enjoyed his rookie season with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls scoring 29 points and sitting just outside the top 10 of the standings, Pierre Gasly currently holds tenth with 41 points.
After another four points was added to his tally at Monza, finishing ahead of his stand-in teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Lindblad will be on the hunt for more points at the debut of the new circuit in Madrid.
Oliver Bearman
Oliver Bearman and Haas have been poor in 2026 to say the least, Bearman currently sits 13th in the drivers standings with him scoring 18 of the American teams’ 21 point tally this season.
Bearman’s last points’ finish was at Canada in May with a tenth place finish so it’s fair to say points haven’t been easy to get for the number 87 car.
Prior to the weekend, Bearman said “I’m looking forward to driving this new circuit as we should get a better understanding of the upgrade package that we have, the gain in Monza was very small but here it’s more of a standard track.”
