The Formula 2 grid is beginning to take shape for the 2027 season, and the first driver announced is the 2026 Formula 3 championship runner-up, Freddie Slater.
Slater, the first ever driver in the Audi junior programme, was announced by Invicta Racing on their social media channels with the words “See you in 2027”.
The Formula 3 rookie, who went into the last feature race of the season level on points with Ugo Ugochukwu, fell short after an eighth-place finish, struggling all weekend at the Madring.
The Brit will continue to receive support from Audi as he progresses rapidly through the single-seater ranks, having previously impressed in the Ginetta Junior Championship, Italian and UAE Formula 4, and the Formula Regional European Championship.
“I’m really excited to be making the step up to Formula 2 with Invicta Racing next year,” said Slater. “I’ve learned a huge amount during my first season in Formula 3, and I feel I’ve grown both as a driver and as a person throughout the year.
“Invicta has an impressive record in Formula 2, so I’m really looking forward to joining the team, getting to work and preparing for the season ahead together.
“I’m also extremely grateful for the continued support of the Audi Driver Development Programme. I know there is still plenty for me to learn, and I’m excited to embrace this next challenge and continue developing as a driver.”
